In The Spotlight with Benni

In the spotlight today is six piece folk-pop band, Benni.

Benni are a 6 piece, folk-pop band from Galway. They consist of members Beth Dowling (songwriter, vocals, keys), Donnchadh Wernstrom (lead guitar), Marcella Creavan (backing vocals, percussion), Jack Dowling (acoustic guitar, backing vocals), Nessan Leahy (bass guitar) and Deanna McDonagh (drums).

In July of last year, they released their debut single entitled ‘Dance Again’. Since then, Benni have been touring Ireland, playing a number of gigs across the country. On top of that, they have released a second single, live videos and have also recorded and written new songs. Benni’s influences stem from artists such Maggie Rogers, Cathy Davey and Bon Iver.

They have just released their first ever music video for their song ‘Dance Again’. For this video, they focused on audience participation and asked both their friends and their fans to send them a short clip of themselves dancing during lockdown. Their hopes from this video is to spread a little cheer during a not so cheerful time! The video, released only yesterday, has already amassed almost 1000 views.
