Our first artist in the spotlight is Dublin rock act Kevin Casey. Kevin draws his influence from artists such as The Beatles, Bryan Adams, Thin Lizzy and Bruce Springsteen.
Kevin is a long standing regular in the Dublin music scene and has played not only in Ireland, but also across the UK, Germany and the USA. He has played in some of Ireland’s most renowned venues such as The Olympia and Vicar Street.
Kevin is joined by a five piece band. Though the lineup has changed over the years, his original band mates, two younger twin brothers Paul & Neil, are now back in the band. The other two members are childhood friends, Jack Bale and Ger Gallagher.
He first became interested in music in his teens, and in 2014, he released his first EP entitled “My Share”. This EP is a five song EP, venting frustration about the recession. He then went on to release another EP in 2015 called “I Was Wrong” which coincided with a European tour and headline show in Dublin, as well as a slot performing at ‘A Night for Pieta House’ at The Olympia Theatre.
In 2018, Kevin signed a deal with Fluttertone and he released his debut album “Magnolia Road”. This album consists of eleven songs, four of which were also released as singles.
In March 2019, Kevin released his third and newest EP entitled “The Show Goes On”. This EP has a slightly more sombre tone to it, as it was written about the passing of both of Kevin’s grandmothers, who sadly died within a day of each other in 2017. The EP is a stripped back EP, absent of guitar and drums.
Kevin had planned a launch gig for the latest EP but unfortunately, this gig was one of the many that fell victim to the cancellations due to Covid-19. He has now planned a live streaming session in place of the launch gig, for lucky fans to hear his EP live for the first time. This will take place on his Facebook on Friday 27th of March at 8:30pm.
