Cork based singer-songwriter Sara Ryan has released her stunning new song, ‘Human’ today, the 23rd of April.
Sara, an Irish folk singer who originally hails from Co.Kildare, really is a hidden gem in the Irish music scene. She has gained recognition abroad in countries such as Switzerland and Germany from her hard work and extensive touring. Not only this, but Sara has also gained recognition in Ireland from some of the biggest names in the music industry such as Christy Moore, Mick Flannery and The Stunning.
Sara’s debut album ‘Breathe’ oozes creativity and honesty. ‘Human’, which is featured on this album, is a song which focuses on the fact that we are all human, no matter our backgrounds. The song was written about a man that Sara met in Cork who unfortunately, was homeless. This struck a chord with Sara and so, ‘Human’ was born. This single is a beautifully reflective piece with soft vocals, accompanied by well crafted melodies.
In the opening of ‘Human’, Sara acknowledges that she does not know this man but asks the question, ‘why is this not happening to me?’. This really shows the emotion and empathy that is poured into this song. The line ‘I know you’re human’ is repeated multiple times throughout the song and really helps to emphasise the message that no matter who we are, where we’re from or what background we have, we are all the same.
This song is a poignant and moving one which really does evoke feeling within the listener. It is a striking release, especially considering the current times we are living in.
